Attentive Things To Do For Your Husband
1. Pack His Lunch
My husband works a desk job, and loves to snack throughout the day. He is gone for 10 hours every day, and loves to have a lunch box full of his favorites. I always pack his lunch for him, and like knowing that he doesn’t have to worry about doing this for himself. It only takes about 20 minutes from my day, but means a lot to him. Every once in a while, I will also add a treat for him, which is usually his favorite cookies, or his favorite candy bar. This adds a nice surprise to his otherwise normal workday! This is a list of what I pack my husband every day in his lunch:
-Main dish (usually a wrap/sandwich of some sort, or a salad)
-Fruit (tangerines)
-Veggies (carrot sticks)
-Chips/pretzels
-Apple sauce
-Fruit cup
-Pudding
-Peanuts
-Granola bar
-Treat (cookies/candy bar)
2. Prepare His Breakfasts For The Week
In my house, my husband is out the door before 7:30, so I do everything I can do ensure his mornings go as smoothly as possible. One of those things is to prepare his breakfast for him, along with setting up his coffee so all he has to do is push a button to make his coffee. Every Sunday evening, I make him muffins for his mornings. They make for a quick and delicious breakfast option, and he says they are filling and are a good start to his day. I make a variety of flavors, including blueberry, lemon poppy seed, zucchini chocolate chip, and cinnamon streusel. I rotate through these to make sure he doesn’t get sick of any one flavor!
3. Put Notes In His Lunchbox
At least once a week, I write my husband a small note on his napkin before putting it in his lunchbox. This lets him know that I am thinking about him even though I am not with him, and he says they always make his day better! Don’t put pressure on yourself… something short and sweet does the trick!
4. Write Him An Old-Fashioned Love Letter
Never underestimate the power of the written word! A hand-written love letter in a sweet card or on a sheet of notebook paper after a long day at work will make his day. Telling him what you’re appreciative for, what you love about him, and why he makes you happy is a great way to make your husband feel loved. Giving one to him after a busy or bad day at work will mean even more to him, and will also provide you with an opportunity to reflect on the wonderful attributes of your husband.
5. Send Him A Sweet Text
Handwriting a love letter is always more special, but there’s nothing wrong with sending him a loving and encouraging text while he’s at work! It’s important he knows that you miss him throughout the day, and that you’re rooting for him!
6. Make Him a Sweet Treat
Baking some simple cookies or making some cupcakes is a treat that is sure to make your husband smile! It doesn’t have to be an extravagant dessert, but just something to satisfy his sweet tooth. There’s nothing better than coming home to the smell of fresh baked cookies!
7. Order Things He May Want Or Need
My husband isn’t someone who wants a lot of things, so I always try to make sure he has what he needs. Making sure he has nice jackets, shoes, clothes, and other needed, everyday things is something I keep up on. Being attentive to these little things will make a big difference in his life, and will make him feel taken care of. Being on top of what he needs in all areas of his life is important, from work supplies to toiletries!
8. Make Him Dinner
Mama was right… food really IS the key to his heart! Having a homemade, warm meal for your husband when he gets home from work is something he will ALWAYS appreciate and look forward to. Not only will it be a great thing for him to come home to, but it will allow you to reconnect over a wonderful meal after being apart all day. I have a homemade dinner for my husband every night, and he says he looks forward to it his whole drive home!
9. Meet Him At The Door When He Gets Home
Meeting your husband at the door with a smile on your face at the end of his work day is a simple thing that will mean a lot to him. When you meet him with an upbeat attitude and excitement, he is likely to match your energy and feel happy to be back home with you!
